About ten toes

The company was started by two working professional mothers who wanted to give more to the community. Both mothers are in the OB/GYN field, and after having their own birthing experiences on Staten Island, NY, felt the lack of a centralized support system for mothers and their new families. They became Lamaze Certified Educators and Registered Lactation Consultants. To help bring more to families’ education, CPR classes for infants, children and adults also became available.

Our mission and philosophy regarding labor and birth:

  • Fears and concerns of labor and birth can be minimized with childbirth education
  • Every woman is entitled to their desired method of pain relief without question or judgement
  • Breastfeeding is a personal decision that we encourage but will not force

We want to provide these educational classes to all women and their families in a peaceful, yet powerful and non-judgmental setting.

Originally, classes were not scheduled to start until July 2007. However, advertising through health fairs and referrals by local obstetricians and colleagues encouraged us to start earlier than our scheduled date.

Our main office was originally in the heart of New Dorp, Staten Island, NY. We eventually transitioned to a private office then began to expand again into doctor office’s waiting rooms becuase demand was too high and space was limited.  With the advent of COVID, in-person classes forced us to transition to ZOOM conference classes which have been hugely successful.
