description
This series is comprised of four sessions lasting 1.5 -2 hours long. They are designed with the whole pregnancy in mind to help expectant parents make informed choices that result in a happy, safe, and memorable birth.

Each of the following classes compound on the information from the first class. It is recommended to start taking classes at the beginning of the pregnancy, however, if you are later in the pregnancy, the last 3 sessions are encouraged.

The FIRST SESSION starts during the early second trimester- ideally after 18 weeks pregnant. Information discussed will focus on the changes that have occurred with the mother and the baby thus far. We will also review what to expect in the upcoming weeks, what tests your medical provider may have scheduled, and strategies for continuing a healthy lifestyle. 1.5 hours

Some topics include:
  • Defining trimesters- you say “months”, they say “weeks”- does it matter?
  • Exercise - Each mom will practice on an exercise ball if she wants!
  • Cord Blood banking- do I really need it? HOT TOPIC!
  • Lifestyle changes- Can I still have sex? How about dying my hair? and more!
  • “Pthalates”- what?! Come and found out what they are and why they’re so dangerous
  • Nutrition - What can I eat? What should I avoid? HOT TOPIC!
  • When to call the doctor - your doctor knows best
  • Questions and Answers

The SECOND SESSION is given at the end of the second trimester - 2 hours
  • What’s a Birthing Ball? Do I need one? - We’ll let you try it, and you can find out!
  • Physical changes- veins, discharge and “ca-nkles”: does is get better?
  • Breastfeeding vs. Bottlefeeding- do I have a choice? HOT TOPIC!
  • Planning for your Baby & Baby Shower- BPAs, bumpers, and pediatricians- How do I choose? The newest recommendations that your girlfriends might not know about! HOT TOPIC!
  • Complications- preeclampsia, diabetes and preterm labor
  • When to call the doctor - warning signs
  • Questions and Answers

The THIRD SESSION is given towards the end of the third trimester. Essentially, this class gets the client and her coach ready for labor itself. 2 hours Topics to be discussed include:
  • Stages of Labor
  • Lamaze Breathing
  • Birth films
  • Games and demonstrations
  • Questions and Answers

The FOURTH SESSION is also given towards the end of the third trimester, one week after the Third Class. We do not recommend taking this session without the 3rd session. The fourth class focuses on the client and her coach and getting ready for the hospital. Dress comfortably- we’ll be on the mats going over the relaxation techniques! 2 hours Things that will be reviewed and demonstrated include:
  • “All about the Coach!”- segment just for the coach!
  • Relaxation Techniques
  • Hospital procedures - Show and Tell
  • Pain options
  • Labor rehearsal
  • Induction / Cesarean birth
  • Birth Plan
  • Birth films
